Exclamation Another Transmission Problem???? Please Help

hi guys i am new here my names Andrew. i have a important question i bought a 1995 Volvo 850 Wagon and i love it so far with 244,000 miles and still kicking but i am really concerned with the transmission. it drives beautifully but once i put it in reverse it hesitates more than normal, and half the time it goes in kinda hard. but sometimes it goes in fine, and the reverse lights always come on after a few seconds of it being in reverse, does anyone know what the problem is? and if it is a bad tranny, how long can i drive it for without it going all together, i will really appreciate the help, i would hate to get rid of it. thanks guys.

When was the last time you had the transmission serviced? Would recommend trying that and seeing how it is afterward.

You could maybe find a place to do it for a hundred bucks. If it's shifting that bad, you might want to look into that, holding out could cause more damage, then it will cost more than a hundred dollars to fix.

first things first do a fluid change. and then go from there, who knows when the fluid was changed last.

OK, "red flag" here folks..... If you're reverse light is not always coming on, then I would say your PNP switch is going bad, which also could be why you're having hesitation also. The switch sits above the tranny and under the battery tray. One of the tale tell signs of that switch is that the lights are not always on OR is showing up "late". Here's the part...http://www.fcpgroton.com/product-exe...ategory_id/208

i know is pnp is going bad, but i figured let him take it one step at a time and change the fluid to help the slaming into gear.

trans fluid is just like an oil change.

for the pnp.... just buy new... dont hassle with i used one, they call them used for a reason. a new pnp is around $100 give or take from fcp.

the pnp is a do it ur self job.
