Default Boost, boost, boost.....

Hey all. My 96 855R is acting up. Never had any real issues with boost, but now its acting strange. I thing the Wastegate actuator is shot perhaps. See my sig for mods. I normally run around 15-16lbs of boost on an IPD ECU. Tee other day it just quit making full boost. Now its hitting like 8 or 9 and just fading out.... its so sad! Ive checked all connections ( vac lines, rip kit clamps ect ) I have swapped for a spare BCS and reset the ECU and i get the same results. My suspicion is that the wastegate actuator finally gave up the ghost and its time for new one. Any basic tests to confirm? Thanks! ( oh, also, about a year ago, i was trying to build up boost levels and i just couldn't get above 12psi, I ended up cranking up that wastegate rod till i got what i wanted ( 16 lbs) This is one reason im thinking its been on its way out for a while.

Intercooler hose have a hole in it?
If the waste gate was not working at all you would have full boost at all times.

What if the wastegate was letting open too much/ too soon? Could that happen?

Yes it could. But I would check all your hoses and intercooler first for issues.

Check the plastic tanks for cracks.
