Boost gauge needle

I've recently boughta 1996 850 T5 and wasn't sure how far into the white the boost gauge needle should go when accelatating hard. At the moment it's about a third of the way in, is this right or am I low on boost?

I don't expect the needle to go to the far end of the scale, just wasn't sure where the needle should go on an unmodified car.At some point in the not to distant future, I'll be fitting a second boost gauge with psi readings on it.

Thanks.

RE: Boost gauge needle

That is about normal.
I am running 12 PSI boost and the needle just gets to the end.
You are most likely running around 5 to 7 PSI.
But also those guages aren't acurate either.

The stock boost gauge is 1 bar which is 14.5psi.

Your T5 boosts around 9.6ish.

But I wouldn't trust that stock gauge for anything except to tell you if you're boosting or if you're in n/a. It's really not that accurate and you really can't know much. I would get a real boost gauge.

Thanks guys. A real gauge is on the shopping list.

And before you ask. If your looking to mount your aftermarket boost gauge in a pod go to...

http://www.gaugepods.com/

They have a single gauge pod and triple gauge pod for the 850's.

Also be sure to get a boost gauge that can read 25 In Hg and 25 PSI. That is the minimum you want. You don't need to go higher unless you plan to run more then 25 PSI of boost. Which to achieve that would take a lot.
