Braking problems
Hello there. I have a 95 850 glt. I know that the ABS module is not working properly, but I don't think that this is the issue with my problem. Here is the scenario. When the ABS/Tracs lights are not on, meaning that everything is working properly, and I brake, the car does steer to the left slightly. I have replaced the two front calipers, had the disks turned, and put new pads on. I replaced one of the back calipers because I broke off the bleeder screw (right rear). Anyway, when there are no lights on, the car steers slightly to the left, and the ABS works. When the ABS/Tracs lights go on and I brake, the car still steers to the left, but the ABS does not work, meaning the car skids with the left rear sliding out towards the left. Now, I know that when I was working on the brakes, I did notice that when I pulled the emergency brake, that the left wheel engaged first, and then a few clicks later, the right wheel engaged. Does this have anything to do with it? Anyway, the pads on the back look good, but the rotors will not be usable for the next change in rear pads. The rotors are almost at their minimum thickness. So, any suggestions? Also, speaking of the ABS/Tracs lights, I have read that this could be a case of a loose ignition. How would I know which it is, the ignition, or the module?
Make sure the inner tie rod on the passenger side isn't bad or one of the bushings or balljoint.
The E-brake has nothing to do with braking. They are seperate brake shoes and grab the inside of the rear rotor.
Something is making either the left front caliper grab more that the right side or something is loose in the front end.
Sometimes the ignition switch goes bad when it does the SRS ligth will also stay on.When it happens if you turn the ignition switch a little you can see the lights go off and if you play a little more they will come on again.
If that doesn't happen it is the module for the ABS.

I just replaced the ball joints, the drive shafts, and the outer tie rods. Then I went to have it aligned, and have them check the rest of the car out. They aligned the car, and told me that the front end is good. Is there any way that I can check the inner tie rods myself? Also, I replaced the front brakes, calipers, pads, and turned the rotors. What else could it be?
Im not sure what else it could be.Something sounds fishy. Are your tires ok in the front?
If you jack up the front of the car and try to move the tire from front to back and there is play there is a bad tie rod.
Stand infront of the tire and grab the tire one hand in the front and one in the rear. Then just try to move it from front to rear and see what happens.

It's hard to tell if it's the rack, or the tierods. I was thinking that I just might change the inner tierods just to have everything changed. But, how will I know what size they are? #4, or #5 tierods?
Thanks for the info. Apparently, as I drive the car, it seems to be working itself out. I took it back to the mechanic who did the alignment, and he told me that the tierods were good, and that I should check into the braking system. I did replace only the left front hose, and not the right hose, and I did replace the right rear caliber, and not the left, and he told me that the guy who did this was an idiot. When you do one side, you do the other. He said, "Doing the brakes is like doing heart sugery, you don't replace one side without doing the other." Anyway, I went back to the autoparts store, and they told me that I should just drive it, and see if it works it's way out... that there is possibly some kind of adjustor valve in the system that will even itself out. Anyway, it is slowly working it's way out. It's not all the way out yet, but I'll keep you posted.
