Buffed the paint

Over the weekend I spent a good amount of time buffing out the paint. Hit the trim with SEM black for now. Have some body colored trim I did up but need to wait a tad longer for it to dry. Touch up paint for the R bumper and Euro markers should be here this week. Picking up a set of Volans on Friday and hopefully ordering a set of coil overs soon. Also need some projectors or blacked out headlight housings. What say ye?

I love doin the detail work. It makes a huge difference. I've seen guys that polish a car & leave residue in the craks...drives me nuts! NICE FRIGGEN JOB!!!

Agreed. Thats why I pulled all the trim off before I started the ordeal. Peeled back all the door/window rubber and taped off anything that was a pain to remove. Washed her done after I was done buffing and put a heavy coat of wax on to protect the newly refinished surface.

Looks good. Love the red cars.

When I was reading the post I only seen the before picture. I was thinking, "man, this guy needs some help" then I seen that there were more pictures. Phew!

Looks real good. I love the red 850's. It'd be nice if the windows were tinted just a little. Those Volans will help.

Could they have found a longer valve step to put on that wheel?

I still need help. I have an uncontrollable Volvo addiction now. :D

I had to peel off the old tint. It was faded purple and nasty looking. The car will be tinted 20% all around next week. Volans and getting low will make a huge difference. The valve stem's on the front wheels makes me laugh every time, I call them my curb feelers.

That stuff you used on your trim made a HUGE difference, wow!

davis3903 Jul 31, 2011 11:19 AM

now if i can get mine looking 75% as good as yours

my project is an 850 wagon. the clear coat is peeling off on the roof. and that will be an issue in the near future. so here is my plan, remove the roof rails (they are only on the sides) and then spray or roll ( after proper prep) the roof with bed liner in grey. two fold reason when i tie something down i won't have to worry about scratching the paint. and it will the load from sliding as much or if it has wiggle it won't leave wear marks. then when it hails it has a bit ore proection..

so what do you folks think. am i nuts or just geeky

bd

A nutty geek. Get the top refinished professionally. How often do you carry something on top?

Looks great. What is it about that particular shade of red on Volvos that makes it look so pink when neglected? I'm looking at one tomorrow that took on the pink hue, nice to see what a little hard work will do, maybe I can get it back to red like yours.

As for the bed liner ........... I'd say you're nuts except that it would be better than paint if you do tend to tie a lot of stuff up there. Kind of creative!

the rare occasion that i use armor all on my tires.. it annoyes me because at speed it vaporises all over my mags and they get so greasy and dirty.
p.s. bumper not painted yet..

Looks great Matt! Grab some trim paint and that should really finish it off.

ibified Aug 4, 2011 11:21 PM

Matt: get a grille and the black headlights for that thing....=) Looking great!

Those side moldings come off so easy it's a shame. A lot quicker to take the molding off than to get wax on them. Remove a small dust cap, then take the screw out of the end of the molding and it comes right off. About 30 seconds.

Any pics of the wrapped side molding? I think that would look really good.
