Clunking = Collapsed intercooloer pipe?
Could it be? im 90% sure i have a collapsed intercooler pipe somewhere and my motor seems to be "clunking" Could this be the cause?
also will 100watt fog lights work in a 55 watt housing?] edit would a vaccume leak cause you to have little boost? |
Not sure about the first one
Yes, although you might burn something or melt wires. Yes |
clunking could most likely be timing off?
|
Clunking = not good.
you need to determine if its coming from the top of the bottom of the motor. Use a hose, PVC pipe or something that you can put on your ear and listen. |
OH! it could be a spring seat mount.
|
no, its from the motor, you hear it when im ideling in driveway. i dont think its anything serious, but id like to do a compression test on it.
Would a boost leak cause it to clunk? |
A boost leak should not cause a clunk.
|
could bad wires or bad cap/rotor cause it, i just changed my timing belt but it clunked before that.
plugs are new. |
i doubt it, probably a mount of some sort
|
could be.
If the clunk really was the motor would i get a check engine? |
No you would not get a code.
|
anyways it probably is an engine mount, how many are there, upper and lower?
and the performance problem is probably a wastegate adjustment (i hope) |
You have 3 lower mounts and 2 upper mounts.
|
Edit you also have 2 lower torque mounts from the tranny to the subframe.
|
how many of them are prone to knocking?
edit, does it happen often that wastegate loses adjustment? |
The R/S one will clunk if bad.
The WG will usually never go out of adjustment. It is usually someone that moves it. |
my god i need a boost guage these POS GLT's/AWD dont come with one, so retarted that they didnt even come with the crappy cluster one, its not like the couldn't have easily bolted in a cluster off of a t5.

another quick off topic question, will a front door off of a sedan fit on my wagon?
edit: also my wastegate question... i dont have the time today to do it cause i work later, but i felt under the heat shield to the wastegate rod i though it was, and it seems completly loose, just by hand i could move it an inch in any direction. |
Pull the heat shield and inspect it.
I think so I would measure to double check. |
