cold start issues
I have a 98 Volvo 850 five speed.now that it has been getting cold i have had a problem starting the car.it will crank rihht up but almost immediately quit.it will do this until licrank out about 10to to 15times time before it will actually start and run but it only does This when it's cold. Check and/or replace the coolant temperature sensor located right below the thermostat. Also do you have a check engine light on? If so, get the code read (Autozone can do this at no charge) and let us know what the code was....Also, 850's were not made in 1998 so yours it most likely a 96 or 97.
