Well my dad had a 95 Turbo and i really liked it and im thinking about getting one. i have heard people referring to a T5 turbo and i was wondering if that was the turbo in the 850 turbo or turbo R ? any additional insight on the 850 would be greatly appreciated. i rather buy a safe already turbocharged volvo then spend alot of money trying to make a honda civic just as fast as the next guy. Thanks

The 94 850 Turbo is the High Pressure Turbo. 95 was the first year for the R. It was called the T5R. I believe both the T5R and the Turbo had high pressure turbos. The 6th and 7th position of the VIN is 57 for Turbo and 58 for the R. In 96 and 97 the T5R became just the R and the Turbo became the T5, and both still had high pressure turbo. I believe the GLT was the low pressure turbo in 96-97, and I'm not sure they even made the low pressure turbo in 95. I'm not sure of all this, but I do know if the VIN is 57 or 58 it's a high pressure turbo with the 2.3L engine.
