Does anyone know how to test remotes???

I have two remotes that do not work with my car. I tried to program them but still no action.

So I took them to the local stealer and local Auto Zone and they claim they don't work. However, they also claim that my WORKING remote does not work

If anyone knows another way for me to test these or program them in my '95 850, please let me know.

Is the FCC number on the back of the remotes the same for the working and non working ones ??

Our autozone has a tester by the counter that you put your remote up to it and it has a light that lights if its broadcasting.

Most Autozone and Oreilly stores have them and since it's the battery maker that supplies them it's likely Advance, NAPA and the others might also have them on the counter to help sell batteries. You just press the button on the tester to turn it on and then hit your remote to see if the light on the tester turns on. It shows if the remote is sending a signal.
They work with factory remotes but I think some of the aftermarket add on units like remote starters and some car alarms work on channels that the tester will not pick up.

You need to pull your glove box and see what the TRANSMITTER code you have. The alarm box is on the right side behind the glovebox. It has a green plug going into it and a sticker with the code.

Does your car have the light that comes on the dash after you lock the door?

Yes it does has the light and it flashes. I bought the rectangular one it was cheap on ebay

The receiver is the little black box on the right side of the glove box well. Once you get the glove box out you can see it and pull that number off of it.
