Default Engine bolt sizes

what is the size of bolts which go into the back of the engine on this 97 850 engine? I'm putting it on an engine stand and can't get to the hardware store to check sizes. and which holes should I use for the engine stand?

do you have the original bolts? if so see if there's a stamping on the head to show the size ie M40 or something like that. Otherwise measure the bolts diameter and thread count (think metric so if you measure 10 per inch, convert to centimeters) - then you can consult a metric ISO thread table like http://www.dinstock.com/useruploads/...en_iso4014.pdf

Or go to a volvo dealer parts store and have them send you a few bolts

As to where to bolt up to, I'd use the threaded holes in the outer casting but not the ones with the guides...
