Out of curiosity does anyone happen to know off hand how many plat editions are actually left in the U.S.A. that are still on the road - i read somewhere but now cant find it--that there are only 201 on the road now - mine is number 31 off the assembly line according to the id plate
:D:rolleyes:- anyone else care to chip info to the ""PLATINUM OWNERS CLICK""

I do know there are at least 4 sedans and 5 wagons, including mine, here in the Memphis area. Mine is the only one I have seen in Memphis with the charcoal grey interior. All the others I have seen have tan interior.

The last 5 of my vin is 79848.

There was a pretty nice 94 black wagon in Vero Beach that I test drove. Needs a remain seal and strut work maybe more, some crank pressure but not bad. Ran pretty well, good power. They seem a bit unrealistic on the price but they might be getting more serious by now.

So your leaving the platinum club?

I have a Platinum Wagon here in the Memphis Region. I live in Southaven, MS. Mine came from Virginia after an exhaustive search. Wanted a wagon with the Black/Charcoal interior.
There have to be more than a couple of hundred. They made 1500 in all if I'm not mistaken.

schigara 02-02-2010 12:58 PM

I saw a Platinum Wagon on Goodman Rd about 6 weeks ago. I bet it was you.

I'd say it's worth a whole lot due to the precision craftsmanship on the rebuild.

You guys think I can re-use this bearing :D The picture makes it look better than it really is.

Thankfully the crank looks much better.

Atleast 100,000K left on that bearing!!! LOL
Well a buddy of mine got $4500.00 from his insurance company after his was totaled.
But he had Proof of the Platinum and how many were made.

Unfortunately the rebuild probably doesn't add a whole lot to the value of the car. It's the exact same thing with performance parts on a car, they don't really add value. Personally, whenever I see a car for sale that's been lowered, or has a blow off valve on it, it makes me less interested in it. Just my 2 cents.

radio16 02-02-2010 07:50 PM

mine is completely stock - no mods - just a completely rebuilt engine -- OH YEAH -- AND THE RADIO CD/CASS PLAYER WORKS --!!!I HAVE THE CODE!!!--that ought to make it worth at least $5,700 lol

radio16 02-02-2010 07:52 PM

ill take a pic of my bearings i changed out - itll make yours look new

rrochell8 02-06-2010 03:19 PM

I paid $4500 for mine 3 or 4 years ago. It was a one owner car with 109,000 miles on it. If you saw it on Goodman Road, it probably was me...I work on Goodman at the Lowes.

I just got a platinum wagon off Craigslist for 300$ :-D bought it as a parts car

xjflexer 07-12-2013 09:52 AM

I watch insurance auctions rather regularly. In the past 5 months I have see a MINIMUM of 10 platinums accross the nation betotalled on these sites. The numbers are dropping quickly. Sedans and wagons.

Count these out! The wagon has a very minor bump on the wheel arch at the right rear door. Also slightly tweaked the suspension. Such a waste there! That car is otherwise mint. Also, each picture is a different car.

johnwartr 07-13-2013 12:10 PM

So what makes a platinum a platinum? Is it based off the regular 850 T5 platform?
