Glass coat

I have been reading about a paint coating called "Glass Coat" and was interested if any one has any experience with this? I says it stays on a lot longer than wax and since I do not have covered parking I could really use something like that.

what year/color is your 850? Most newer car paints use clear coat (particularly metallic paint colors) which really protects the actual color layers. Its not really a wax, its a resin based coating so in effect its adding a layer of clear coat to your clear coat. For the $500 or so being asked, you can buy a lot of car washes to keep the car clean. One area I'd consider its value add is if you park under pine trees or have bird droppings which can etch into clear coat... but if you just park outdoors or if your car is older, don't bother. Its likely the clear coat will start to peel before the glass coat pays for itself.

I park under oak trees full of birds at times so it is hard on the paint. My car is green and the clear coat on the roof is peeling.

yeah, my regency red 850T wagon has peeling clearcoat too. I'm tempted to get the clear coat redone (particularly on the hood) but I'm not that far along on the pricing. Curious if you've priced that...

I have never heard of redoing the clear coat. I didn't know it could be done.

found a bunch of vids on youtube - most shops suggest you can sand off the old clear using 220+ grit but then they suggest repainting since all the prep is done. there are some plasti coat type products but again most suggest repainting if the color coat has oxidized any since that's what ruins the clear/color bond.
