Got my hands on the car yesterday...
 

I got the 850 home yesterday and had a chance to give it a proper wash and wax. The paint was badly oxidized, but it looks great now. The car certainly has a few battle scars, but overall it is in really good shape! I am impressed that a 15 year-old car drives so well. It's extremely solid.

Almost everything works - with one exception. The odometer and trip meter don't move. The speedometer works, just no odometer. I did a quick search and it looks like perhaps there is a way to find out the actual mileage in the computer... I haven't yet found the procedure. Also, I am wondering if anybody has any suggestions on fixing the odometer. I may try to buy a used one and swap it out if there isn's an easy fix.

From what I have read here so far, I am very pleased that my A/C works. I look forward to hearing any comments about the odometer.

Okay - I just found the link that shows how to replace the broken gear. Seems easy enough.

I also saw JPN's post from earlier this year on how to read the mileage from the ECU - but I'm still not sure how to do it. Do I need any special equipment? Is this pretty easy to do for a relatively handy person? Any detailed instructions and/or photos would be helpful.
