Guys Pls Help! Buying a car tomorrow!

Hi guys,
I just found a 850 turbo wagon with a good deal and will go see the car tomorrow but only thig i concern is the seller said it has check engine light on and off sometime. The car has about 125k.What is the most expensive problem that would cause check engine light on? If it is O2 sensor, how much should i pepare to spend?
Any suggestion would be really appreciated, I just want to join the club!
Thanks

What year is it? You will have to pull the codes to see why the CEL is on. It could be any number of things. If it's 95-97 you will need and ODB-II reader to pull the codes. In 94-95 you can get the codes from the onboard computer. The CEL can be as simple as the gas cap not being on tight to something major like engine misfiring. My advice would be to take it to a Volvo mechanic and pay for a pre-purchase inspection. That will give you batering power on the price or tell you to stay away from buying the car. It's a well spent $60 to $70.

Hm.......

A '96........

Do you guys think the CEL unit going on and off could be the ABS unit failing?

It really could be anything. Impossible to guess what it might be. My son had his going off and on because of his gas cap. I've had mine do that because of an air pump. You can take it to AutoZone and have them pull the codes for free.
