I have a 1995 850 turbo wagon. When it is around zero outside the car is hard to start, and when it does, it idles very roughly, will not accept any throttle, and if I look under the hood the upper intercooler hose is colapsed. After several minutes the car starts accepting throttle and builds revs, after about 10 minutes it drives normally.

 

I would replace the hose and see if that helps. I would think that it would be starved for air with a collapsed hose, which would in turn result in an incorrect air/fuel mixture, and cause the rough idle.

 

Yep, I would also replace the hose. Even if it doesn't fix the issue, it cannot hurt. Do you have a check enging light or any codes??

 

Two things:

1. the hose is not collapsed normally, if the car is not running, it is not collapsed. If the car is running normally, it is not collapsed. Just to see what would happen, I disconected the hose, and the car started right up. Of course, it ran like crap, but I was able to warm things up enough that then upon reconnecting the intercooler hose the car started up fine and ran fine.

2. One code, 435, if my book is correct that is a slow responding oxygen sensor.
