So, I've only had the"new" 95 850 Turbo for a week and I'm having trouble getting used to some of the driver basics. I've left the lights on more than a few times anddrained the battery once already. Myothercarhas a buzzer that screams at me when I leave the lights on. I enjoy driving with the running lights on (mostly because I think it looks cool, I guess), but forget to turn them off. I found a setting I enjoy - the 11 o'clock setting, but I still notice the lights remain on when the car is offusing Position 2 (running lights). However, if I have the headlights completely on - Position 3 - they will shut themselves off when I turn the car off. My question is this...

Is there a warning buzzer and mine is just broken? Or is there no warning buzzer/dinger at all? If not, any ideas on how to add one? Or do I just rely on the dummy warnings in my other car too much? [sm=signs007.gif][sm=signs007.gif][sm=signs007.gif]

 

I don't have one on my 95 turbo, but that may just be broken as well.

Aren't the running lights supposed to come on as soon as you start the engine no matter what setting you've got the lights on? My both my mate's 855 and my father's does however mine doesn't but I've always assumed this was to do with it being ex-police.

You could do what I do - just drive about with the headlights on, although I don't in the daytime but instead of putting my sides on when it becomes slightly dark I just use the headlights instead.

 

Only the Parking Lights will stay on if the ignition is off. The headlights will not stay on when the ingition is off. No buzzer or anything. We pretty much never turn off the headlights since they go off automatically when we turn the car off.

 

Amen! I love the feature on how you can leave the light switch on and the lights turn off when you shut the car off. Probably saved me a dead battery at least 3 times over the years

Looks like I'll have to sacrifice personal taste for security in knowing that I won't be stranded again. [:'(]

 

I have a 240 wagon and an 850 T5 wagon and a Nissan twin cab and, yes, thank God for the Volvo headlight auto switch-off facility.

On foggy days when itis necessary to have the headlights on, I hop out the Volvos without a worry in the world - but you'd be surprised how often I've had to return to the twin cab just to check just in case I'd left the lights on, so as to prevent a very long walk home.

 

Another option is to have your wife/GF/mom/grandma ride in the passenger seat at all times. This will ensure your turning off the lights every time you leave your car. But there is a possibility of getting more harm than good in this option.

You could always have a pair of ear mufflers just in case.

 

But the aural warningcould turn into physical warning, such as:

- Slap (of course).
- Hit in the head.
- Hit in the eye (I hate that flashy effect[:@]).
- Choking ([sm=sick.gif]).

Warning devices are dangerous.
