Heater
I am having trouble getting enoughtemperturefrom my heater. My previous V's would run you outta the car, my 95 850 has just nominal temp, enough to keep you from freezing but no where what I am used to. I have thought of replacing A/C control unit. What do I need to check before I go further?

What reading are you getting from the engine temp gauge? It should be about half way up the dial after 1 - 2 miles and it should stay there. If not, change the engine thermostat.
Hi,
Is your A/C of automatic control? If so, try pulling codes and reset the system. The socket for the climate control is B-1 at the diagnostic terminal in the engine compartment. Haynes manual has a good procedure in this particular case. If auto, you may or may not see amber "REC" & "AUT" LED's blinking simultaneously after start-up. Also, oneof the damper motors may befailing.
If the A/C is of manual control, it may be as simple as cables needing adjustment, or the tangs that the cables attach to may have broken off.
Or, as Bill states, it may be a faulty T-stat. There are a couple of threads relating to the same problem, you might want to do a bit of research, they should be within the first 4-5 pages of the 850 section.
Good luck,
JPN

My thermostat is barely moves from cold while driving, and my heater is like yours. My thermostat is stuck open - and the cabin is not heating very well at all.
A stuck thermostat also makes gas consumption worse. Perhaps you have this problem as well.

If you've done the T-stat and the car doesn't overheat, it's either a problem with the ACC (if you have that) or a heater core issue. I would be more inclined to believe it to be the ACC (again, if you have that). - AB
