Installation of MBC '94 850
1 Attachment(s)
Im trying to install an MBC and i am a little confused. I thought the two lines that are to go into my MBC are from the wastegate actuator and the compressor bypass. But on the stock BCS the lines connect are from actuator, air pipe and from bottom of turbo.
My question is, if I install the MBC using the actuator and compressor lines, then where does the line that comes from the very bottom of turbo connect to? |
You need to connect the green tube to the inlet of the MBC and the yellow hose to the outlet. You will not do anything with the blue hose. Also, I would recommend capping the two open line off on the BCS so that there are no air leaks.
|
I connected mine today and im not sure if i did it right but i connected basically the Green and Yellow lines to my MBC and you have to cap off the blue line...the red one stays where it is. Can anyone confirm this, so I know if i did mine right too?

Thanks you guys.
But where does the vac line from the compressor bypass go then? The red line |
The red line is the blowoff valve (Bypass Valve) and will go over to the tree on the intake manifold.
|
Thanks boxpin

Now I have installed the MBC using the actuator aswell as the bottom turbo line and took the line from the triangle looking compressor bypass valve and hooked it to the vac tree...
All this and no boost =S I cant even hear it spool anymore What am i doing wrong |
You should have left the bypass valve alone it was fine the way it was.
Is the MBC still between the compressor hose and wastegate? |
tech is it too much to ask you to take a picture if you have an mbc installed. is the compressor hose the hose that comes from the very bottom of turbo?
|
Yes it is the hose that is way under there. But you could have just disconnected it from the stock boost control valve then hooked them up to the MBC.
But the bypass valve from the factory is connected to the intake manifold. I will try to take a pic tomorrow if I can. |
Oh I had it connected to vac tree.
I will direct it to manifold 2moro night thanks tech |
i hate to bump this, but maybe it will make it more/less confusing
http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/n...ostguage-1.jpg the only thing i dont understand in diagram B is that nothing connects to the vaccume control solenoid therefore completly bypassing it? |
Right now I have it hooked up with turbo nipple and wastegate actuator. And then i have a vac going from compressor to vac tree.Boosting about14-15psi and no spiking.I love it =DNow Im waiting on a jpipe from sconeman and an obx system and a 16t and ill be happy.300hp brick of metal is fast enough for me
|
That won't be 300hp. With those mods and a tune, maybe 280
|
I think it will be close to 300
I had another 94 at 14psi and it was 270 crank so i figure with jpipe, exhaust and a k&n cone filter i should be able to squeeze an extra 30 out of it. |
Maybe with a tune. 850 Turbos are stock like 222hp, you're not going to get an extra 80 hp out of a MBC, a cone filter, a j pipe, and exhaust, all of which don't add substantial HP in the first place. An IPD 15psi tune with exhaust gives you about 280hp. Pair that tune with an intake and j-pipe maybe get 285/290. Now, add a FMIC and set the boost to ~17psi, maybe looking close to 300hp (maybe).

+1 Even though you wont be at 300hp it will still put a smile on your face. I am at 15PSI, 2 1/2 cat back exhaust, good stage one tune, IPD ECU, MSD ignition, moded intake and I still only hit a 14.7 quarter. My Celica I had in the late 80's ran a 13.6 quarter mile. With NOS and a 2.2 liter, twin Cam, ported/polished, Dual side drafts, HKS Pistons, etc. It was determined that the HP I was running was 315. I can say I am not at 300hp or I would be seeing better results. Hey, just curious how is this any different than a 95 getting hooked up. My boost controller looks different and I want to say (without my car outside) that my hoses are reverse of the one on the first page?
|
My assumption was that the MBC valve would be installed in-line between the boost control valve and the wastegate servo, and it would simply postpone the servo's action...?

I have been playing with options, OEM, MBC and EBC. I still find myself sporting the simple MBC. To answer the question about how to connect it, the hose with the filter on it is the Green hose in the diagram. Attachment 18561 |
