RE: List of diagnostic trouble codes (DTC)
I put this list together today after gathering up information from a variety of sources. PM me for the microsoft word doc. that includes hyperlinks to the appropriate section, and better organization. The fuel system is for a 2.3 turbo engine. Others can be found in the previous posts.
Whats here: A1 Transmission A2 Fuel System A3 ABS A5 Transmission Control A6 Ignition System A7 Combined Instrument B1 Climate Control B2 Cruise Control B5 SRS B6 Power Seat Instructions on how to read and reset codes. Great job! I was too lazy to type it. My OCR software would not convert it correctly.

RE: List of diagnostic trouble codes (DTC)
Thank you 94_850T[sm=smiley20.gif]for the listingof codes and terms, and thanks to JPN for getting me started.
I'm sure that not only myself but others will find this of great assistance. I'm currently going throughthe Brick's codes and will clear and see what comes back and go from there. Here is what I have found: A3 Codes 142 - Stop lamp switch faulty 141 - Pedal signal faulty - Shorted to ground A6 Codes 241 - EGR system flow too low in system 214 - Engine speed (RPM) sensor signal missing sporadically 324 - Camshaft Position sensor signal missing sporadically 314 - Camshaft Position sensor signal missing or faulty 131 - Engine speed (RPM) sensor signal missing A7 Codes 132- No RPM sensor signal 122 - Temperature signal interval too long B1 Codes 122 - Outside temperature sensor open circuit or shorted to 12 volts 132 - Driver side air duct temperature sensor open circuit or shorted to 12 volts 134 - Passenger side air duct temperature sensor open circuit/shorted to 12 volts 411 - Blower fan seized or drawing excessive current 413 - No control voltage at driver’s side interior temperature sensor inlet fan 414 - Driver side interior temperature sensor inlet fan seized 415 - Passenger’s side interior temperature sensor inlet fan shorted to earth 416 - No control voltage at passenger side interior temperature sensor inlet fan 417 - Passenger side interior temperature sensor inlet fan seized 418 - No control signal to blower fan power stage B2 Codes 122- Abnormal speed signal. Whew [sm=smiley5.gif], that is one crazy list and I'm really hoping that B1 codes aren't going to cost me an arm and a leg to repair. All I need to do now it find locations for all of this and I should be in business with no more warning lights on the dash.[sm=wootwoot.gif] Anyway, it's like3am., and I need to drop and will[sm=type.gif] tomorrow(later today)and update my findings. Maybe I can clear a few. [sm=icon_cheers.gif] |
RE: List of diagnostic trouble codes (DTC)
I just tried doing the reset (which by the way was very easy to follow)...THANK YOU! Everything happend according to your instructions, but the check engine light did not go out. Is there something I'm not doing? I had this light on since November and we thought it was a mouse nest in my air filter...nothing has been wrong with my car since.
Any advice would be wonderful! TM |
RE: List of diagnostic trouble codes (DTC)
Hey now Tmixdorf,
http://www.volvoclub.org.uk/reset.shtml Check for code from A7, clear and then follow the reset procedure in the link and you should be fine. My (lambda/check engine) light came on last year due to an exhaust gasket leak and I went through and cleared them last weekend and it is so nice to NOT see that light on :). Now I just need t replace a front left ABS wheel sensor and the ABS and Tracs light should be put to rest and then I will be really happy with a clear dash [sm=smiley20.gif]. Sorry for the late reply. Been really busy lately and I am doing some touch-up's. Post pics later. [sm=icon_cheers.gif] |
RE: List of diagnostic trouble codes (DTC)
[:@]I have a '99 Volvo S70 B5254S (gasolin 2.4L 20V Automatic) with Motronic 4.4, the check engine lit up, shop says it is a 0012 code but they don't know what it means, the car runs fine.
Can anyone tell me what it is? Israel |
RE: List of diagnostic trouble codes (DTC)
Is that a generic P code?
|
RE: List of diagnostic trouble codes (DTC)
I don't know. I have been told (not by the mechanic) that it may be related to the Camshaft position or its sensor
Israel |
RE: List of diagnostic trouble codes (DTC)
It looks like a P code and yes it means camshaft timing out.
Have you had the timing belt done lately? |
RE: List of diagnostic trouble codes (DTC)
No I bought the car recently and the last belt change was about 70K Km ago (50K miles), the car runs good, I see no change since the light came on, about 900 RPM at idle. i think i'll just disconnect the battery to turn the light off (don't have a code reader) and see what happens
Thank u Israel |
RE: List of diagnostic trouble codes (DTC)
Try that and see if all else fails have the timing checked.

where are the attachments? i can't find them in the post

engine trouble codes
I have 1991 240 that surges while idling. It also is unresponcive when the troutle is pressed. I replaced the mass air flow and still receive the same engine codes, 223-121-113. Any help would be greatly appreciated

My 96 850 glt, has three codes in memory. (1) misfire on cyl 4 (2)rich condition from one of the sensors (3) random misfires
Car runs great and the previous owner said he drove the car for 2 years with the CEL on with no issues. 1)How can I check codes without an official obd2 scanner? Is there a plug I can jump to make the light blink or anything, like obd1 vehicles? 2) How do I clear these codes? |
For 96 and 97 850 owners who want to read and erase codes for ECU, Transmission, Cruise Control and ECC (Electronic Climate Control) you can build this very simple OBD2 DIY Code Reader from this Document.
If you have a Wiring Diagram, you can also access the ABS and SRS diagnostic wire at the connector. |
That's AWESOME Henry. Thanks!
