Looking to buy 850s, what to look for?

Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum and new to Volvo's in general. I am looking at buying a 96 850s wagon and was wondering if there is anything special I should look out for when I go look at the car? Any known issues I should keep an eye out for?

Thank you for helping a newb out :)

if the heater works
-front + rear wiper works
-heated seats work
- if the rear hatch springs are good
-if the rear hatch opens and closes smoothly
-if all the speakers work
-if the fogs work
-odometer, gas guage + horn work properly
+ the normal stuff (runs smooth, no frame rust, no black smoke on startup, leaks)

most of them are little things, but they add up

You want to see when the last time the timing belt and the tensioner was done... Oil Change records/intervals,especially if its a turbo model. if the breather system has been changed out.... Make sure to drive it also.

maintenance records, a visual inspection of how well the car appears to be maintained.

All the above plus the AC if that's important to you.

Well thank you everyone for helping me out, I went and checked it out to day and it was a complete bust. Lein sale papers, no title, trashed interior etc. My search continues and thank you again.

Basically, check out everything that you can think of and try to get the maintenance records. Some things like heated seats working might not be as important to you as other things may be.
