Talking ...maybe a bit low on R-134A????

I have a 94 (non turbo) 850 that I bought 9 months ago, which has the a/c system already converted to R-134A. (the car has 114k miles on it). The a/c is good and cold, and very consistantly so, until the last 2 to 3 weeks. Now it seems as if, on acceleration, or at even at a consistent highway speed, the a/c goes from blowing very cold air to warm....just for a few seconds....then back to cold. I am wondering if perhaps I should just buy a can of coolant and top it off?????

To be fair to the poor car......our temperatures during that time period are also consistently running 101 plus....and we live in a very humid part of the country.

As always...your input is greatly appreciated!!

Clutch shims - check the sticky posts at the top of the page.

There is also a ghetto method over on VolvoSpeed where you just super glue some bread bag clips in on the back of the clutch and you never need to open the system.

OK-yes I am familiar with the "ghetto method" of shimming the clutch. I did that on our son's 99 V70XC...and it is working like a charm!! The clutch had crossed my mind on this car, I was mainly asking, though, because the problem with the V70XC was that when it disengaged, it would stay out, whereas this one (at least going by the coldness of the air), is only doing it for maybe....less than a minute before going back to cold air. I will check the clutch out, though, because I feel very comfortable doing the "ghetto fix" on it. As I said...we did it already on the V70XC....and it works GREAT!

Thanks!!!
