Meguiars Ultimate Compound
Not paid to say this...but if your paint is faded this stuff works pretty well. My hood was pretty much toast, and to the point I thought it would need a repaint. This did not take it all the way- I don't think it is meant to bring back paint as far gone as this was, so I am pondering trying something with a bit more bite as a last resort. The before is from a year or so ago- and it was better then it was now.
First I rubbed down with a clay bar, then applied Ultimate Compound via a hand held buffer and a terry boot. Then I washed the boot out and applied Zymbol. Finished with a hand wash. Like I said- not completely there. You can still see some haze. On the areas that were not so oxidized it looks absolutely fantastic. Anyone recommend another product with just a bit more abrasiveness? I want this to shine. A more aggressive compound won't necessarily improve the result. That is a base coat/clear coat paint job and it would appear that there is still a little bit of clear coat left which is why you got as good a result as you did, but going more aggressive may simply burn through the remaining clear coat leaving a repaint as your only option.
