Hey Tech
I like the HIDS. How hard and expensive is that conversion? Will that work on my '96 850 too?
Have you posted a link on the HID conversion?
Thanks

The conversion was pretty easy. No no link to it. I had the kit given to me but there is alot of places to buy the kits. Yes you can do it to your car.

Whose kit do you recommend and what power? Also I quickly read there are low and high beam kits instead of just a low beam. What one did you do, and was it both low and high?

I have an older Phillips one not sure what temp it is. Looks almost a little blue as well.
If you want to try a cheap one and roll the dice then try the e-bay kit for like $69.00. If you want better try http://www.sharphid.com/
They are a pretty good place.
I have the lows only. When I can finally find and buy a set of OEM fogs I will do them as well.

I like your shot of the car at night and the way the light has a ring around the light. You mean the fogs can also be HID's? Also, is the T-5 spoiler the only way to get recessed fogs on the 850's? My wagon is not a T-5 but is a Platinum Turbo.
Actually, in looking at your pictures again, you have a shot that says you won't go back to regular lights, and then the night shot. The night shot is the inside front lights, and the previous shot the outside lights are lite. What is the inside light with the blue light ring?

Some added a Halo to the inside around the highbeam. Your platinum should already have the fogs in them. The fogs I have now are aftermarket. OEM ones sit flush. That aftermarket ones sit back some. I need a set of OEM one. Yes you can HID them as well. They should be H1 bulbs just like my aftermarket headlights.

I bought the headlights used the halo was a custom job. But on e-bay there is headlights that are a 1 piece projector with the halo's around both headlights. They are less than $400.00 for both headlights. My headlights are H1 bulb setup.

I don't have fogs in my spoiler. Someone told me there might be a spot to open the hole, but I have not found that. Is that true, there is a spot?

Look under the car on the backside if the bumper. Look for an indent that is a round circle. That part is what you would cut out then there is a rubber o-ring looking thing that will go in the hole then the foglight will go in.

Your fog lights would, for your model, go into the spaces that have the little grilled insert on the drivers side of the bumperand on the passenger side the tow hook would need to be removed for the light to fit.

The back of the bumper has the impressions to cut it out to make it look like the platinums. I was looking for a pic online but cannot find one.

I found the indent for the cut-out. Now I will need to find the rubber o-ring looking thing and some fogs. Tech, do you know if the 96's are prewired for the fog's in the dash area? I have no toggle for the fogs, just the rear fog.

Also, I was thinking of installing a bumper guard to install more driving and fog lights asI am a camper and backpacker. Sometimes I get on very dark roads. I was pondering the idea of a grill guard and skid plate like something in the link below
http://www.autoanything.com/grille-guards/index.aspx
and install a couple of large PIAA's. Not too volvo, but neither are 5 five bike racks on top either.

Not sure if there would be a mounting place under to attach it.

For the fogs yes prewired but you will need 3 relays and the switch I did it to the white car when I put the R bumper on.

Not sure where you will be able to mount the bar like that.

Speaking of lights, in general. Ive been looking around eBay and have found these.

http://cgi.ebay.ca/Volvo-850-94-97-C...QQcmdZViewItem

http://cgi.ebay.ca/Volvo-850-94-97-O...QQcmdZViewItem

http://cgi.ebay.ca/Volvo-850-94-97-O...QQcmdZViewItem

http://cgi.ebay.ca/Volvo-850-94-97-C...QQcmdZViewItem

All, of which I like and think would look good on The Anvil. But I am partial to the Black version of either set.

Now, if you could get the L.E.D.s AND the Angel Eyes, then that would be the best of both worlds.

Well Puffer yo, back atcha,

I agree with S70driver.

While The Anvil isnt a turbo, and after all the cash that Ive put into it, I wish it was. These are great cars bt if you want to start mods in the power department, youd be best to at least start with a turbo version.

Suspension peices like sway bars and braces are good for handling but for pure power, TURBO BABY.
