noisyheater fan,odometer stopped 850

My heater fan went from occasional squeaky to roaring. Of course the cold winter in N.S.now. Is this hard to access/fix? My priority now.

Also when I brought the car home from the garage that they "disconnected" the ? broken sun-roof and front broken headlight wiper I noticed the odometer had stopped. as well as the light behind the dash clock was dead. Could this 2nd problem be connected to a fuse for all or is the odometer much more complicated then that usually.

The odometer typically fails due to a small plastic gear and has nothing to do with the disconnected motors. To replace, you need to pull out the instrument cluster then open it up to access the odometer. Not too complicated - to remove the cluster you need to remove about 7 screws holding the left side of the dash cover down, then prop it up all the way to the glass to get access to the clips and connectors. Once the cluster is out, there's a set of T8 torx screws and you can then separate the halves to get to the odometer to fix the gear. Search online for some instructions. The gear is easily found on eBay, plus its a good time to replace all the backlight bulbs.

Access to the blower requires some disassembly of lower dash and removal of the glove box. You may be able to pop out the glove box to get close enough to try lubing it

I never fixed any of my odometers. they're all bad, and you can buy little plastic gears to fix them. To me it wasn't worth $30 to have one.

Sigh....our 1988 240 has its odometer stuck at 229,999, as I just discovered. I don't really want to pull out the speedometer. Any chance I can somehow goose the odometer by fiddling with the speedometer cable? Sigh....probably not...:(

The 240 is totally different and much easier to deal with... No, you can't "goose" it, it doesn't have a cable, it's electronic. The 240/740/940 is the place to go for info on 240...
