Default OBD port issues

I'm trying to pull codes on my '94 and the light on the diagnostic port under the hood is on constantly. It doesn't blink, or shut off.

I've never had this problem, or seen any posts from anybody with this problem. Any thoughts? It's hard to get a code when the light just stays on all the time.

That's with the pigtail not hooked up, or does it make a difference?

Must be a short somewhere in the harness..

That's with the pigtail plugged in. Otherwise, the light is off

Most likely the fuse for DLC (data link connector) is blown

Is that one that would be in the fuse box? I checked all those and didn't find any bad ones.

Nr 33. Sometimes a fuse looks good (optically) but is broken. To be sure it's better to check with an ohmmeter

I checked the fuse. It's good.

I just recently bought this car. I've been driving it around with the 'SRS' and 'Brake' lights on, but it runs well so I hadn't bothered pulling codes yet. I checked today, in every port, and I got a ton of them.

A1 (trans)
114, 124, 322, 232

A2 (fuel)
413

A3 (ABS)
444, 314, 211, 212, 213, 214, 142

A6 (Ignition)
Light comes on when I push the button, but it gives me no codes. Not even the 111 code.

A7 (Instrument)
Light comes on when I push the button, but it gives me no codes. Not even the 111 code.

B5 (SRS)
222

B2 (Cruise)
122

B1 (Climate control)
Light is on constantly with the wire plugged into this port.

I reset the ones I could, and got the 111 code. I'll drive it around and see which ones come back. Some of them could have been in there forever.

I haven't gone through the list yet, but a couple things struck me as odd. First, I would have assumed the codes would be in numerical order. Highest to lowest, or the other way around. The codes I listed are in the order that they were spit out at me.

Second, I know some of them are for incorrect speed signal or something like that. My multi-function display seems to be working, my speedometer is working, and there hasn't been anything strange that made me think there's a transmission problem, so I don't know what a 'no signal' code would mean if everything is working.

Since I reset the codes, the SRS light has gone out, but not the brake light.

I'm just throwing all this out there, but none of it solves my heat problem, which is my main issue at the moment.

Any thoughts appreciated

the order is arbitrary. it just continues in a cycle, so if you pulled one code shut it off then did it again it would pull the next one

Or if it's a wagon you can try the rear wiper and if it works then the fuse for the test panel is good

* 33 – 15 Amp (1993-95)
Power Seats, OBD Test Socket, Tailgate Washer/Wipe (Wagon)

I had to look it up because I was trying to remember the OBDII power source. With the OBDII socket if the courtesy lights are out (blown fuse) it kills the OBDII too

* 15 – 10 Amp (1996)
Audio System, Courtesy Lights, Door Open Light, Trunk Light, Glove Box Light, Remote Control Central Locking System,
Oil Level Sensor, Seat Belt Reminder, Data Link Connector (OBDII)

Just trivia, sorry.

I pulled all those codes, and reset them all with no problem. It's definitely not the fuse. At this point I have to assume there's a short in a wire, somewhere in the circuit for the fan.

Oh, joy....

Thanks for all the input
