OBDII Reader - Suggestions/Opinions?
I'm looking at this:
Any opinions? I really don't want to go much over 100.00. This one does the live readings etc. Thanks for any input. timster. |
oops
Just ran a better search and found some answers in other threads ...:o

You started it :p What did you find and what do you think you'll purchase ??

I'm considering buying one of those inexpensive readers that pairs with a smart phone.. I know it won't be as good as a 'real' high end reader, but to read general codes on my fleet, I think it'd be OK.

I have my first smart phone and I bought an OBDII bluetooth connector for my car. I downloaded "Torque" free for android but that's as far as I've got :( I haven't taken the time to play with it yet. I'm more interested in using it on my laptop.
I have an Innova that I got free as it died and they were going to toss it. Don't remember what I found or how I fixed it but it's been going strong for a number of years. I did buy a plastic fitted case for it and I do work on older cars so the limited OBDI connectors come in handy as most "free" scanners at the parts stores are limited to 96 and newer OBDII systems. If I was going to spend good money for one I'd make sure I had live data capability. That's where the Innova I have falls short. |
I like the Ultra Gauge and the Scan Gauge. They both read live data and have other features that help you save gas and other useful things.

It gets good reviews by a lot of people and has been mentioned on this forum a few times. I like the live feed and freeze frame features. Either way, it should be better than my modified cigarette lighter charger that I can plug the leads of my volt meter in! :) |
