I have a 1996 Volvo 850 Sedan. On the way to work my odometer and trip odometer stopped moving. I hit the reset button on the tripodometer, but they still do not move. This is a recent purchase and I am not very familar with the car. Do any of you have a suggestion on where to begin? Is this a common problem on this car? Does this car use a cable or gear or what?

It's a common problem Drew, I have a 96 850 with a broken odometer as well. There is a tiny gear on which a tooth breaks. The good news is, if you're at all a do it yourself kinda guy, it can be fixed for less than $50 and some time. Lots of places have the gears available, ipd (www.ipdusa.com) has a kit that comes with an instructional DVD.
