Default Volvo 850 A/C question

I own the volvo 850 and I heard it comes standard with the R134 a/c stuff would it be a big deal if I added the R12 kit you can buy at any auto shop?

Thanks

Brian

Hey now,

It is not recommended to mix R12 and R134.

They are completly different and mixing the two will cost you not only in the efficiency but in reliability.

Everything from poor cooling to compressor damage/failure.

Again, NOT RECOMMENDED.

please have a look at the label on the can. As you can clearly see it states the product is good for R12 and R134!

I myself would not use that. R134A is pretty cheap I would use that. The system is designed for 134A.

R12 and 134a are not compatible. NEVER introduce R12 into a system that runs on 134a.

I have asked the question incorrectly.I used redTek 12a to replace/fill up my R12 and or R134 AC system

Please also have a look here, http://www.redtek.com/win_12a_refintro.html Sorry about that! I got the names mixed up!

Yes but if I remember correctly that stuff is mainly only for household Items such as Refridge, A/C system, Freezer, Pool heater pump ETCI don't think it crosses over good to automotive A/C systems.

I believe that you'd be better off not adding redtek if your system is not already running on it. I converted my system to Duracool a year and a half ago, and I had the system evacuated before changing over, just to be sure of any potential noncompatibility issues. And I'm quite pleased with the results. Did it because of a slow leak.

Hey now,

I checked into the Redtek a little further and found this.

Before replacing anything did you follow the directions?[sm=smiley36.gif]
