Default Overheating problem.

My 96 850 Wagon's radiator fan stopped working a couple of days ago. I have not gotten to look at it but yesterday it started to work if I had it on AUX.

My question is with it working in the AUX mode would that not be the relay? I'm still new to Volvo and the relay has 3 plugs so I wasn't sure what was what. I have the Haynes manual for it, but like I've said I have yet to get a chance to look at it. Mostly I'm wanting to know if someone has had this problem before?

are the relays know to do this? Are they rather expensive to get? Anywhere other then a dealer have them? Also with the relay, I'm guessing the 3 different plugs are 1 is the emergency cut on, 1 is the high for the controls to cut it on, and the other is for the regular use. Does the one for the High work for the AUX? and is the Emergency cut on linked to the other and thats why it wouldn't cut on to stop it from over heating.

Not sure about the wires but the relays are common to fail.
