As for the whole leaky injector thing, I thought I would share with you guys what my car does on startup (hot or cold):
First I turn the key to the ON position for about 3 seconds to let the fuel pump run a bit. Then, without stepping on the gas any, I turn the key, and the car starts immediately and normally. RPMs jump to about 1500 and then rapidly reach a normal, calm, smooth idle within 2 seconds, sometimes less. I don't have any of this "go to 2000 RPM and stay there for 3 seconds or more" business.
I would assume this is what the car is supposed to do. My uncle's 1993 850 GLT does the exact same thing, and I'm not worried about the injectors in either his car or my car.
My fuel economy:
26 Average MPG with approximately 60% highway 40% city. I think having a manual transmission does help with this though!

The reading on the dash is the average mpg that your car has gotten since the last time it was reset. Has your driving routine changed? have you spent less time on the highway and more time on side roads or in traffic? Just idling your car for a long time is going to cause it to drop. If not....
I have a 94 850 turbo and a couple of years ago my mpg dropped to about half of what I normally got (It was so bad I was getting 17mpg hwy), and I tried all kinds of things, basic tune up with new Volvo spark plugs, fuel injector cleaner, o2 sensors...even replaced my catalytic converter (ouch). In all that I forgot the fuel filter and well, that easy replacement did the trick. MPG was back to normal 29-31mpg hwy and 17-22 around town.
I got my Volvo at around 120k miles and it was up to 150k and my filter was disgusting, don't know if it had ever been replaced. If you haven't yet...I would suggest replacing the fuel filter.
