PTC Vacum port plugged - Clean or replace?
 

Guys,

Working on my PCV system. Have replacement kit from IPD. When I removed the PCV hard pipe the PTC came with it. Good thing as I have read this need to be cleaned.

Well today I went back to work on this project and the vacuum port when I blow into it, it is plugged.

I already yesterday had sprayed some brake cleaner in the port and I have already tried a very small paper clip etc, and always hit a block.

Is there a good way to soak this to dissolve what ever has this plugged or should I buy a new one?

Clean it. I used a VERY small drill bit and a tooth pick.

Thanks, I just read the same on the MVS site. So out come my drill bits. Good thing I have a bunch of very small bits.

When you reinstall the PTC... pull the entire hose from the airbox to the turbo. It'll be much easier to reinstall.

I monkeyed with mine, trying to push it back into the hose while still installed, and it was a huge PITA. After an hour, I pulled the hose, and had it reinstalled in 10 minutes.

Had to laugh. Sometimes you find a shortcut and you save a little time. It's always something simple you think you can save some time not removing or taking apart and try to work around that ends up costing you three times as much time. ;)

Carb cleaner and a drill bit. Just be gentle with the drill bit as it's hard to tell the crud from plastic. Soaking it to soften it up is the best bet.
