Recommendations for CV Axle replacement

Hello,

Ran over a rock and checked under our 1996 volvo 850 glt manual and the Driver's side CV boot is torn (a slit on the lower part). Some grease and road grit is covering the boot and some of wheel area. Not clicking yet as it's only driven a few miles since splitting.

Thinking about cleaning it up and patching temporarily with shoe goop until I locate a new driver side axle.

The only thing is, I'm having a hard time locating a new cv axle! Last winter I had the passenger side axle replaced as it started clicking (but the boots were fine, just old age I suppose) with a part ordered from IPD for ~$100 and it seemed to be good enough quality. But, now I can't find them on either IPD or FCB Euro (they only have the volvo oem for ~$500) and it has to be shipped here to Hawaii.
The only thing I could find are the $60-70 axles on PartsGeek by A1 Cardone or FEQ... I'm just not sure if those brands will last very long or are reliable options? Locally the only option I found is the Duralast Gold new CV axle from Autozone (the re-manufactured one is not available here).

Any suggestions?

Thank you!!

you can get a boot kit from a Volvo dealer or a dealer mail order. Dealer web sites are good for researching the OEM part numbers as well. For the rebuilt shaft, check out eeuroparts.com to see if they carry the manual transmission's part.
