Replaced sun visor now interior lights and remote don't work

I'm not sure what I did, but I think I screwed something up. My driver side sun visor was broken so I got another (used) one. The one I got did not have a working light on the mirror. This was ok for me, since my car is very old and I really didn't care if the light worked or not. Plus, I wouldn't have to worry about reconnecting the wires.

I pulled the old one out and clipped the wires. As soon as I did that, my (overhead) interior lights when out. I just thought it timed out, but when I tried to turn them on manually, they wouldn't come on.

I checked other stuff. The car turned on fine. The radio, air conditioner, power sun roof, all worked. Took it for a ride around the block. When I got back home I turned off the car and got out. Pushed the door lock remote, and it didn't work. I had to lock it with the key.

Can anyone please help? What do I do. I can live without these things, but I'm hoping its a simple fix.

I figured replacing the sun visor was something even I could do...

Thanks in advance!

When you cut those wires, you overloaded the circuit and blew a fuse. Should be under the hood in the fuse bank. I did the exact same thing when I replaced mine.

Boy, that makes me feel a lot better! Thank you for responding. Is it pretty obvious which fuse to replace? Are they labeled?

I'll look tomorrow morning when I have better light.

Thanks agian.

Yup, a label is on the top of the lid. There's also a few spares in there so you don't have to run out and buy a handful of different ones.

you'll be able to tell which one is blown because when you look at it from the side, the metal piece that goes through the middle of it will be broken.

Regarding the drivers side sun visor

Ours is loose and I have a replacemen that came with an electrical fitting (Tyco 1-968700-1 A). It is the female s8de and I ordered a male side to be delivered. Here is my issue, the wire on the replacement visor is in the connector. When I cut the one that is in the old visor, how do i tell which is + and which is -. Thanks
