My cam sensor came loose!
The Car: 93 volvo 850. I recently replaced the timing belt, head, headgasket etc due to broken timing belt from previous owner. The car ran great after I did all the work, and easily passed emissions.
To make a long story short yesterday the car died and restarted 2 minutes later. Died again today and would run, but VERY poorly
Pulled the codes, which were 324 & 314, both pointing to CPS. I took off the CPS cover and saw a bunch of tiny metal filings inside. I then began removing the inner black metal piece and found that the bolt was not completely torqued. Once removed, I found that one of the little tabs that fit into the slot on the camshaft was almost completely sheared off.
I *think* I remember torquing that 10mm bolt, but it was about a month ago so I can't be positive. Am I supposed to put loctite or something on that bolt? Any other reason it would have come loose? I'd rather not ruin my new sensor...
thanks,
arnold
