Resolved - Rough idle on start up

I posted a thread on this issue when I purchased my T-5R about a year ago. To my disappointment, completing a Stage 0 did not fix this issue.

The following is a brief description on the problem: Upon a cold start-up, the idle would be rough and sometimes wanting to stop idling. After a few minutes, the idle would stay steady but idle was never silky smooth.

Last weekend I had the "Volvo Whisper" assist me with replacing the water pump which had slow leak. Upon taking off the timing belt cover, we discovered the timing marks were off on the exhaust side.

I had ordered the timing belt kit with water pump from IPD which was a smart move because everything but the timing belt was still factory parts. We finished installing all the parts and set the cam timing. To my surprise on the first start-up, the idle was silky smooth.

It's been 4 day since setting the cam timing and my T-5R has had a silky smooth idle on start-up everyday.

I hope this information helps other 850 owners :)

Wow, I didn't know that. Yikes! Is it also running better? More power?

Wait, all of the parts were original? Wonder how the timing got off? Maybe the belt "only" was replaced once before. Were there paint marks on the cam sprockets?

I just asked the "Volvo Whisper" last night why my T-5R is performing like a rapped ape, he felt is was a combination of correcting the cam timing and pulling the ECU.

My T-5R is now running the best its ever run under my ownership :D

All the parts were original but the timing belt which looked new. Are the yellow paint marks on the cam sprockets from the factory?

No, nly marks. My guess would be someone replaced the belt only at 7 years or 70,000 miles, which is normal.
