Rust proofing...what's good?

Hi guys, well it's that time of year again...winter is upon us and i'm thinking of getting my car rust-proofed. There seem to be differernt types out there...some are oil based and more liquidy and others are thicker (grease)...what do you guys recommend? I've heard different things..that the more viscous ones are good cause they spread out better and get into the cracks but i'm afraid that it will wash off after the winter. The thicker ones are good cause they stick better but don't really spread into the cracks....what do you guys think? thanks

RE: Rust proofing...what's good?

Hey Chef, Our cars have an etched coating on the base metal from production. This coating is very resistant to rust.If the paint is scratched below the paint surface, through the "coat" rust can grow. Is there a history of body work? Rustproofing fills the drains, which is why I'm not a fan for todays cars.I would clean the body drains and door/trunk seals, hit them with silicon spray and call it good if there is no body work history. Hope this helps.:)
