Speedo showing incorrect speed.
Hi guys,
On my 94 850 T5 I have a slight issue with the speedo. It constantly shows as 10km/h under what the actual speed you are doing is. Eg: needle says 60, I'm doing 70. When the car is stationary, it points exactly at zero, where it should. When I do a cluster test in OBD1 port A7 the needle goes up slightly less than verticle (about 10km out). The rest of the cluster works fine. Is this a case of replacing the cluster, or should I attempt to move the needle slightly off zero to compensate? Are these needles a pain to try and adjust? Thanks for any tips guys. |
What size tires & wheels are you running?

When the car is stationary, it points exactly at zero, where it should. Are these needles a pain to try and adjust? When you say it points exactly at zero, do you mean the actual zero, or the line that indicates zero? There's a bit of space between the two. I had lined mine up with the actual zero, but when I checked my other car I found that the needle should be above the actual zero, pointing at the line that indicates zero. I had to take it all apart (), but now I've got it aligned so the car and the GPS both tell me the same thing. The needle pops off if you put a flat screwdriver behind it. Do it carefully. It's easy to break, but it will come off. Be careful pressing it back on too, obviously. |
Thanks for the reply guys. The forum did not tell me I had any replies. I have now fixed the problem. It turned out the needle was resting too low and pointing directly at the "0". I looked at various you tubes and have now reset it to point at the first line when stationary.
It now reads spot on. |
