SRS light & ABS light on, after dash swap
I just swapped the dash from one 850 turbo to another and now the SRS light and the ABS light are both on. However the ABS light seems to be about half as bright as it should be. Any insight or suggestions is greatly appreciated. P.S. the dash removal was far easier than I had anticipated.
Have you tried to pull codes from your under hood diagnostic panel yet ?? If it has trouble codes that would point you in the right direction for a faster fix.

Check the airbag connections for the airbag. The more dim bulb can be changed. Too bad the other dim bulbs in our lives can't be so easily changed!
If you can't fix these problems, just drive more carefully.

hi all, I thought the srs light could only be reset by the dealer?
I thought the same thing as I accidentally set mine off while having the airbag disconnected while doing an ignition switch.
If you have the under hood diagnostic panel you can reset it yourself !!

I have the same issue on my 1997 wagon. I replaced the instrument cluster bulbs, and while the air bag was out of the car, I had to switch on the ignition. I think this caused mine. Is there a rest under the hood of this car, or will a trip to the dealer be required?

On a '97 it's going to take a trip to the dealer. There used to be a handheld that did SRS (airbag) I was looking at (around $70 ??) but they are getting hard to find and that was last year I was looking. I think I came across one on ebay, new in England.
I thought I was going to have to go to the dealer too as I had screwed mine up turning the ignition on while trying to center my steering wheel after doing an ignition switch. Now I know it's possible to replace the switch without pulling the wheel
Only if you have the under hood diagnostic panel do you have access to the self SRS reset. Only up to '95.

Local dealer and an import only indie shop both want over $100 to reset my light. WTF?
I guess things are slow since christmas....

Oh well... I just have to live with it. I have always wondered if the system would still work correctly regardless of the light, don't really want to find out the most obvious way, lol
Same as the ABS system, if the idiot light is on the system is deactivated. That's the only reason it's worth it to pay to get the light reset. Once the light is reset the system comes back on line.
I have a Draper "expert" Service Indicator Rest tool, P/N OSR/VOLVO that came with my donor sedan. However, I cannot find an instruction sheet in the paperwork that came with the car, nor doing a google search, can I find one.
Several post indicate that this tool will turn off both the engine service interval light as well as the SRS light. However, just plugging the unit in does nothing. Just a green light on the front.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This might help for using your Draper:

Seems the draper website no longer makes that tool, however I did find something similar on ebay for $65. Made in china of course, never had good luck with stuff like that. Any ideas on the dim ABS light, other than a bad bulb?
I guess I need to get it reset then... <sigh>
There are some car manufacturers that have brake warning lights that do have two intensities. I have no idea if Volvo is one of them but if it isn't, and it would be in the owners manual if it was then you should consider it "ON".
You would have two problems. One is the light is on and the other is there is a problem with something in the circuit. Maybe even a wrong bulb was put in as a replacement at some point
If it's dim it isn't the bulb it's likely either supposed to be that way or there is a resistance as in bad connection in the circuit.

How to read and reset the SRS and all the other functions available if you have a 95 or older with the under hood diagnostic panel.
