still confused w/95'850 turbo obd2/diagnostic

I purchased a 95' turbo wagon w/134k. the service light has been on and several attempts to clear it through obd2 in car or diagnostic under hood have falied. One response through the forum suggested the system has been overridden some how. This sounds verry possibile as when the ignition is turned on, two lights on the dash do not illuminate.(check engine and abs). The abs seems to work as I
felt the pulsing when I purposefully applied the brakes on a snowy road. When the in car obd2 was checked, it contained approx 7 problems, but I only remember seeing missfire problems and cannot remember others before it was cleared.(mechanic friend has reader). Untold attempts using underhood diagnostic fails. I was in car watching and saw the service light go out during these attempts
but it returns once the car is started.
Overall, the car runs pretty well. it has a very mild surge at constant low throttle, none at mid to full throttle. Every vacuum line I could see has been replaced as well as the whole pcv system. The throttle body is next on my list to clean.
I am new to the forum and appreciate the wide varity of problems and the very willing members whom help. I am still figuring out how to navigate through the forum (old bald headed italian guy) but have fun learning.
Love the car and the challange it represents. Future plans include complete exhaust from the downpipe to tip, strutt tower brace, and maybe an upsolute chip.

thanks again all

You need a special tool from volvo to clear your service light, ebay typically has a good deal. If the CEL and ABS lights don't come on the bulbs are probably burned out, replace them. If you post the codes you're getting we can help with your other problems as well.

Finally welcome to the forum!

I'm a little confused. Are you trying to reset the Check Engine Light or the Service Reminder Light? Also, I have a 95 and I am able to reset both lights from under the hood without a code reader.

I think some 95s had the box upfront connected and others didn't.

I could be wrong, but 95 was a split year as far as I know.

RE: still confused w/95'850 turbo obd2/diagnostic

Hello again, the cel and the abs lights do not appear when the the ignition is turned on as do all other lights.(the car is not started). The
service light comes on and goes out after a given period of time or miles after the car is started. I am not wishing for a problem, but
after finding the 7 or so codes in obd2, you would think I would have seen the cel. I have never seen it, hence burnt bulbs are a good possibility, but so is someone overriding the system somehow because after clearing the obd2, we still could not reset the service light on the dash using the diagnostic unit under hood.
