Suspension Question
 

My 93 850 GLT has a broken strut mount on the front passenger side so I went to order the parts to repair it however, I have no clue what all I need to replace it, I already got the actual mount but there seems to be something missing to keep the strut from going around all over the place while I'm driving. I think I have found the part I need but I want to be 100% sure so I don't get the wrong part...here is what I have

The top one is the strut mount and the bottom one is the spring seat.
I would replace both and be done with.

That's what I was thinking but I wanted to make sure with the people who knew better than I do before I just went out and bought it. Thank you for your assistance.

For goodness sakes don't buy the Scan Tech replacements. This is a fairly labor intensive job since you need to use spring compressors and get the cross shaped nut off. The cost differential is substantial between OEM and aftermarket parts but having them last for 10 years or more verses 6 months with the aftermarket stuff makes it an easy decision.

For the spring seats I have been using the OEM XC90 seats which fit just fine but they have more meat around the bushing at the top where they all fail. They are only a few dollars more than the 850 seats.

Good find. I didnt see that they were scan-tech.
(moderator) tech says to Stay away from scan-tech.

Cool! Thanks, I was wondering where to find the good stuff! I have only been able to find a hand full of places that carry parts for 93 850's most of the other stuff is for the 94 and up ones. Thanks again!

I hope you have not completed the repair just yet, because there are other parts I would highly recommend replacing; see attached.

Yes stick to the OEM parts if you plan to keep your 850 for more than 3 years down the road.

Also, only if you could afford to, I would replace the struts, sway bar link rods, lower ball joints,rear shocks & their mounts. They are not an absolute necessity, but you would feel as though the car just came out of the assembly line. But of course this is a major spending so you can ignore it too.

I see you have already started getting the parts to fix it but I would recommend going to strutmasters.com and checking out the conversion kits. The kits include everything you need to fix the suspension. It is coil over struts. Powder coated, American made steel coil springs that are guaranteed to last the life of the car. I tell you this because A: It will be a lot cheaper than buying all your parts separately and B: This is a permanent fix. The kit also comes with detailed instructions including how to disarm the ride light. I posted the link below so you can take a look.
