Tape Deck malfunctioning
 

Hi there.

I have a 1996 850 with a tape/radio deck. The radio is working great but all of a sudden my tape player has stopped working. It will take a tape, but when it goes to play it, it just goes back and forth from side a to side b, over and over and over again without playing anything. and it wont stop the switching until i press the eject button.

Can someone please help me figure out what is wrong? I found another deck on ebay that has the cd player too...which would be nice...but it'll be $150 for me. and i'd rather just keep what i have if i can avoid the hassle.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Well, I think the mechanism that switches sides is probably bad. There are places that can fix that but it might cost you about 100 bucks.. If it was mine, I would just pick up another on here or another board. or go aftermarket on the radio. Post on the wanted ads and see if someone has a spare radio laying around. Good luck !
