I recently purchased a 1996 855R, and I have been slowly fixing the little odds and ends that are wrong. One of these is the interior lights. None of the lights work on the top of the car: They don't go on when you open the door, nor when you flip the switch to turn them on.


The glove compartment light turns on, and the lights at your feet turn on when you open the door. The rear overhead light doesn't turn on when you open the hatch, and the reading lights at the rear passenger bench don't turn on when you open/try to turn them on. (The lights located on the JC handle).


Any ideas? My main question is if there is a way you can disable the switches....I have never heard of that on the 870s, but you never know. I have checked the fuse, the fuse is fine.

 

Since you've toggled the 3 way little switch in between the buttons that are pressed to turn the front lights on/off and the fuse is good, is there a chance that all the upper interior lights are burned out? In my '97 854R that I picked up last year, the floor lights worked but only one rear light above the right door was working, the rest were dead. replaced them and I was good to go. Seems like when a light goes out people just don't care to replace them.
