Tires - 205 / 55 16s on 97 855R
My car came with 2 sets of tires.
The first set is the Volans, and the tires on them need to be replaced. I'm tossing around refinishing them, or replacing them, so I thought I might throw the other set on for a bit, and have the winter to work on the Volans. The 2nd set is Columbas. The tires on them are not the correct size - but they are close. The 2nd set has 205 55 16s on them, when they should be 50 series. The PO used them in the winter. The closest I can figure, that's going to make the tires 3/4 inch taller than if they were 50 series. Is this a big no-no? I know the speedometer will read a little off, but that shouldn't make a huge difference, right? |
I believe 205 55 16s are the correct size for a turbo non R.

That could explain it.. my car is an R, but the Columbas did not come on it.
I checked online, and I see sites saying a T-5 could've come with 55 series or 50 series. |
The PO of my 855T had 205/55-16 tires on there; they wore a nice slit through the front plastic fender liners; now i need to find some JY ones to replace them (since the ones on the N/A are cracked). Suspension was stock.

I decided against trying this - the tires are from 1999 per the date codes, and I don't feel safe running them.
Probably will get correct sized tires for the Columbas on the car, or just put some new tires on my Volans. |
