Tough time removing the fuel filter

Having a really tough time removing the fuel filter. I cannot disconnect the quick-release couplings. Anyone have this issue and any recommendations? Do I pull the coupling away from the filter or push it towards the filter to disengage and allow me to remove the tubing? I tried both and either way I can't get it off. Any tips?
Thanks!

Got er done. The quick connect tabs should be pulled AWAY from the filter. Used a 17mm wrench to do the job relatively easy. I kept the underside bolt in place when I was disconnecting the fuel lines as this gave counter-traction to pulling on the lines.

In the past few weeks I have replaced the front passenger side motor mount, transmission torque rod, plugs, wires, distributor, rotor, transmission fluid, air cabin filter, and fuel filter (all parts from FCP) and this car is running smoother than ever. Thanks for all the help on this forum! It's been a lot of fun and very satisfying to work on this car.

fuel line connectors

It would be helpful if you could demonstrate the removal of the fuel line connectors from the filter, in detail, this is the difficult part if you are not knowledgeable about this process.

Thanks for all your help

Basically, the fuel line connectors are sort of like quick release tabs. You pull the outer sleeve AWAY from the fuel filter and this disengages the connection. Then you pull some more and the outer sleeve AND inner sleeve will release from the filter. If yours is difficult to remove with just your hands you can use a 17mm wrench which fits nicely over the OUTER sleeve. Again, push that away from the fuel filter and now you will have more leverage to release the connection. Hope that helps.
