TRACS light is on need some help..TECH maybe?
I have a 1995 Volvo 850 turbo with 202,000 miles on it. The other day I was driving along the freeway with the Tracs button in the down position(on i think?) and the tracs light on the dash lit up. When I got to where I was going I shut the car off, got what I needed and left. When I started the car the light was not on, however after driving for 1 minute the light came back on. If I return the switch up(tracs off i think?) The light goes away. it has been this way ever since. ABS light is not on.
I ran the codes and cleared them then ran them after 30 minutes of running. Here are the codes Section A1-111 section A2-514 Section A3-424 and 142 Section A6- There was no response from this bank, worried here too, comments? Section A7-111 Section B1-111 Section B2-122 Section B5-111 Section B6- Same as A6 no response. Test were done with the key on and engine off. The A3 codes are 424-Pressure switch for TRACS, faulty or short circuit. 142-Faulty brake pedal switch, open or short. |
Well tech is going to be away until next week from what I know..
Have you checked the connections for those sensors? |
Yes I have, Im not to worried yet since the abs light isnt on, I can live without tracs.
|
Have you checked the two wires coming off of the abs pump, The insulation has a tendency of disintegrating
|
My light is always on and sometimes it will work properly and I can use the switch to toggle on or off! I did notice the pump wires had silicone on them where they meet the pump! Maybe a pump problem?
|
Both problems fixed!!!!!!!!!!! Turns out I had no taillights. Checked the fuse box and sure enough i had blown the stop light fuse. This was do to me taking the spolier off for a nice clean, claybar, polish, and wax. well i had sniped the third break light wires, and that caused a bulb out indicator. So i just twisted the wires together, it stopped the indicator but ended up shorting the system and blew that fuse. Replaced the fuse got the break lights back, I read the A3 codes again and cleared them. I checked the A3 codes again when I got home from work...success they did not come back. re wired the third break light properly again. I am so happy.

Also this is what the 1995 manual states about the operation of the TRACS system. "TRACS is switched on manually with a button on the dashboard. The indicator lamp in the button will light up when the system is ON. With the button in the ON position, TRACS activates automatically if one of the front wheels loses traction, shifting power to the wheel with the best traction.
A sound from the ABS control module may be audible at this time. The system functions only at speeds under 25 mph (40 km/h). |
I always leave the button up, I guess that is OFF. When the switch is DOWN my button light comes on (the little orange one).
Also, code 111 means no error codes in that port. |
