Tracs Off and ABS Lights Both On

RE: Tracs Off and ABS Lights Both On
I figured that I would soldier through the problems caused by the failing ABS unit until I almost rear-ended someone on the way to class because the ABS kicked in during a slow brake. Scared the crap out of me.
I got my rebuilt unit back this morning from Gavin at Module Master. Quick turnaround. Haven't had a chance to install it.

I just ordered the socket from the guy on that website for $5.00 plus $2.50 for S&H. Mac Tools wanted $21.00 for one that they said would work. Wife said the oddometer quit working today, so I guess that car sits until I get the tool, then send the unit out and wait for it to return. Said it might take 5-8 days just to get the damn socket.

NAPA's smallest was E6. I just got damn tired of looking and ordered it. It was shipped yesterday. We are just driving the other two cars until I get the white one fixed. That's why I have three older cars, so one can be non-drivable, but we still each have a car.

Took the unit off last night and sent it to Victor today. Going to take 2-3 days to get there, so should have it back on the road by next weekend if all goes well. I took tech's advise and took the air filter box out. Definitely made it easier to get to.

Ok, Victor sent me an e-mail and said my unit has been opened and fixed previously and he is not able to fix it. Now I'm not sure what to do. The local Dealer wants $513 for a new unit, and I found one on e-bay from a junk yard for $150. I sent Victor a couple e-mails asking him what my options are, like replacing the Circuit Board or whatever he suggests. Any ideas here?

Have you or has anyone tried ABSModules.ca?
It looks like they primarily sell to dealers/parts places, but ours has been out for almost a year, and I've been going to call them for some time to see if private consumers can buy from them.

No. He said whoever worked on it before messed it up to where he could not fix it. I just got a reply from him. He wants $225 for another unit plus an extra $5.00 to return my old unit. Total would be $245 with a five year guarantee. I just asked him how much he was going to charge to tell me it's not repairable. I think it's $25.00, but don't remember where I got that number.

RE: Tracs Off and ABS Lights Both On
We finally have another car. We just got a 97 Subaru Legacy GT from my parents, so now I can pull the ABS module out of our 850. With the police in our town, you don't want to be driving around without a speedo. I'm looking forward to having ABS and Tracs again. Thanks again for this thread. Now that I'm ready to do it, I know just what to do.
