Turbo Boost Problem
 

I have a problem boosting or the lack of boost:mad:. I made a video of it(sorry for the badness of the video):(

You really need to explain what's going on.

If you are saying that the car doesn't want to boost and go when you put your foot in it, there is a big chance that your intake tube is collapsing when you hit the gas. Start the car, pop the hood, hit the throttle and see if any of your intake tubes collapse.

When i try to to accelerate it feels sluggish, that video was my putting the throttle all the way to the floor at a stop and rolling, boost gauge so to the solid part but never goes in it, going to go and check the tubes.

Checked and yes, the top tube from the intercooler collapses when i put my hand on it, i would hate to see it at high RPMs.

You don't need a new tube ....... think about it ...... it should have pressure in it when you are accelerating !! How would it collapse if there is pressure in there. It's more likely you have a restriction and it's likely it's the turbo. Make sure you have a clean air filter in that housing too.

You need to check to see if the turbo is still spinning or if it's seized. Carefully take off the intake tube from the turbo to the MAF and gently feel the turbos fins to see if you can easily spin it with your finger.

Most people replace the tube. It should not collaspe.

Think about it. Your engine produces vacuum from the pistons. You have more vacuum at idle with the throttle plate closed then you do at wide open throttle for the reason that the throttle plate is the restriction. No one ever reads vacuum on the air filter side of the throttle plate. There isn't supposed to be much there because your only restriction is the air filter and unless it's clogged there isn't any vacuum present worth mentioning.

If the intercooler hose to the throttle body is collapsing then you have a restriction forward of the throttle plate. If it isn't the air filter plugged, it's the turbo. The other two hoses are probably collapsing also you just can't see them.

You can replace the hoses but if the turbo is the restriction the new hoses will flatten out too. That and the post mentions not having much power which can indicate a turbo that isn't boosting.

I had the problem and it was my turbo seizing up. I ended up flushing the engine with a flush chemical a couple times. I also try to always let it idle down before I shut it off so it cools and less chance it's going to cook the oil in the turbo when you shut it down hot.
After tearing down this last turbo I'm worried what the inside of mine looks like !!

I'm not sure why the tube collapses but I know it does and a lot of people say that it's gotten to soft and needs to be replaced.

On another note, the people that mod their cars often do a reverse intercooler set up. Maybe to avoid problems like that.
