Volvo 850 glt cannot rev more than 5400rpm on full throttle
 

Hi all,

I am a proud owner of a 93 Volvo 850 GLT. The engine is 2.0 cc, 20 valve, 143 bhp, 5 speed manual transmission.
It has always been maintained with the highest quality parts and on time.

I recently noticed a problem which has never occurred before and i would be most grateful if someone can help with some information.
When you are on full throttle and reach 5400 rpm the car suddenly stops accelerating. It is like the fuel pump stops.
It does it only on full throttle (pedal to the metal). There is no problem if you keep the pedal pushed halfway.

I have red the engine computer and have changed all the faulty parts. There are no mistakes now except the lambda sonda, which i have also changed.
I had a problem with the mass flow sensor 2 years ago and i have also replaced it with a new Boch one. Could this be the problem?

I know that this problem can be caused by many things but am hoping that someone has some experience in this problem.

I tried couple of local auto mechanics and none could help me discover the problem.

Sounds like the rev limiter to me. Were you routinely revving above 5400 rpm last week? We don't get the 2 liters in the USA so I am just making this up.
