volvo 850 oil light flickering

hello everyone i am new here and would like some help with my 850. Recently i overhauled the engine put new rod bearing and had it bored and honed. as well as new pistions. when i first started it, it ran fairly good except for the tappets making noise but i thought this was normal. after 40 miles the tappets were still making noise and the oil light began flickering. I replaced the oil pan o rings with no luck. i also took the pump apart to check that and still nothing. I have a feeling a main bearing might have been put in the wrong spot. What should i do next to confirm this? what should i do from this point on?

any help is appreciated thank you.

Check oil pressure. Not sure how but someone can tell you.

Is the car turbo?

Stop running it until you figure it out. Only run it for diagnosis as limited as possible.
If it didn't clear up after 5 minutes, but 40 surely would get any air out of the system.
If it's making noise you don't really need to do a physical psi test as the ticking is telling you either you don't have enough pressure and or volume.

Why did you overhaul ?? Was there any problem with ticking or oil pressure before you rebuilt it ??

Was there metal in the pan and did you clean or replace the pickup ??

These cars also have a oil thermostat that may be stuck. Not sure if that will cause an oil light or not.

The manual says that you shouldn't rev the motor is the lifters are clicking.

i overhauled because i blew a head gasket and i had the cylinders resurfaced because they looked bad.

there was some metal but not much i thought it could be from the overhaul process.
