Whats your top Speed
I just tested the volvo on the freeway, and it only hit 115mph,there were no cars on the road. It got pretty fast up to 110mph, is there like a performance chip for the 850, on my audi twin turbo the chip costed my 600 bucks but after that i felt i had another car, and also what kind of turbo does the volvo have
But yeah just wondering here, what kind of speed have you guys reached in your volvos on stock, chipped, etc....

Something is wrong if 115 is your top speed. Mine will hit passing gear at 100 mph, so I've been told. There was an article in Motor Trend back when I got my first 850 Turbo in 1994. It was titled Cars That Will go 140 mph for less than $40K. The 850 Turbo wagon was one of the cars and looked really out of place and was the only FWD on the list at the time. They had it rated at #7 at 152 mph.
One time in my 94 in the middle of Kansas, I know I have told this story too many times now, I wanted to see when mine would shift to it's highest gear if I held the pedal to the metal. It shifted at 127 mph and shot up to over 130 then I shut down. Not sure what the two I have right now will do though. If I see the speedometer at 100 I slow down considerably. None of mine have any performance mods at all.

How Fast???
Man, that is way to fast!
So I went to the tire shop to get my tires balanced. I told them not to rotate, just balance. After they were done, the guy in charge of the tire shop asked why I decided to have them balanced. I told him... Well, when I hit around 78 or 79, I start to feel them wobbling. He looks at me a little funny so I continue, that goes away at about 89 to 91, at this point he troughs up his hands and asks, "where in this country is the speed limit 80 mph?" So I continue, then the vibration picks back up at about 104 or 105. So, I decided to see if balancing the tires would help.
(I was on a test track). LOL

Track times...
I seen that in your video, very nice. I'm going to head to the big track in Memphis one day and get my times.
For some reason I check our family GPS and the top speed stuck in there is 118. I have no idea who did that or in what car they were in. Had to be either the 960 or the S70 GLT. I doubt the Jeep could do that, it's just a V-6.

I am not 100% sure I guess about 130 or so in the Mustang about half was through 5th gear. Had to back off due to car felt like it was going to take off like a plane. The speedo only goes to 85 but the needle stopped when it hit the trip button and when I let off it took a few seconds before it came back off of it.
When I get it back on the road again it is going to get a 160 speedo and another shot to see what it does. This time it is dropped 2 inches so it will take longer before it feels like it will take off.
The Yellow R has only seen about 100 with me. One day in a safe area I will see what it has.

I have driven a couple other older cars over 120 mph a couple times. When my 69 Chevelle hit that speed it felt like it was going fly off the road if I even attempted to turn the slightest amount. My 1980 Porsche 911SC felt terrible at around 100 mph. Actually had way too much feel of the road to go that fast, but felt like it would turn on a dime even going fast.
The Volvo feels better than any of them at high speed. It has a very good aerodynamic design that feels like it's being pushed down at high speed. Not going to corner with the Porsche, but on a straight road the two of them went neck and neck up to about 100 and I had to shut down the Porsche cause of the feel. My Dad was riding with me and my son was driving the 94 850 Turbo. My Dad was well in 80's at the time and once we slowed down he just started laughing. I can remember him racing people with me in the car when I was very little. He was driving a 55 Studebaker Hawk and was blowing the doors off Chevies and Fords. Now wonder where my son and I get these lead feet?

My wife had a Honda Prelude, I believe it was a 1995 or 1996. She got it off the showroom floor. Once down a straight country road, 2 lane highway, it was up to about 123 mph. The sun roof was open and it sounded like a jet plane. The car was barely on the road, felt like a spider pattering on the not so smooth surface. Although it wasn't complaining it did not feel very good. It had the basic 4 cylinder engine in it, I believe it was 2 steps down from the V-Tech.

Coming home from an ex-girlfriends at about 2am in the morning I was driving an 87 RX-7 turbo. Both cats off (pre cat and main cat) with downpipes and k and n drop in and some tweaking of the wastegate. I was on a slight incline on the interstate and the speedo woudl register 160mph. I was at about 152 to 153 and a sudden sense of how deep under the jail I would go and how few pieces they would find if I blew a tire caused me to lift my foot. It still felt like it had a few more mph left in it but I kinda wimped out. I had Tokiko's on all four corners for struts and it felt pretty steady. i think I was running HR rated Summitomo's and they felt pretty good. Had done some swaybar urethane upgrades for bushings too. that was a long time ago when I was a little crazier.

I hit 135MPH in my 1995 850 N/A when I had it. Only engine mods were an intake and a 2.5" catback system.
And yes you can upgrade the ECU's on the 850's. N/A's yes you can but it wouldn't be worth it. On the turbo models def. worth it.
13g's, 15g's, 16T are what you will find on the 850 models. All Mitsu turbos.
Oh and ECU upgrades for the good companies like RICA, IPD USA, BSR PPC your looking at $600+ and for the less researched and developed company tunes $325-$425, SpeedTuning USA, InMotion, Upsolute. I would go with the better companies listed above.

I can get up to about 113 no problem and I'm not saying it tops out at 113 but the acceleration really slows down. I'm talking like 1 mph increase every 2-3 seconds. Maybe if I was on that 4 mile long runway at area 51 I could hit 140. I want to join the 140+mph club someday. Do the 850's have a governor? And if so will the ECU upgrades remove it?
